1 Million to Go Hungry in 2009

The folks at Simple Spoonful wrote a thoughtful article mentioning the United Nation's recent report citing that 1 million folks will go hungry due to insufficient food and nutrition this year. Even though we've had two consecutive years of record harvests!

Certainly something can be done about this! Food Security is the answer. For more information about Food Security on Maui, check out the Maui Food Security Blog, featuring notable writer Rob Parsons, Vice President of Maui Tomorrow.

Photos of Our Christmas Trees!

Aloha!

We spent some time yesterday decorating our trees and thought we'd share them with you.
The first one you see below is the Ha`o, which is about 6 feet tall and really gorgeous. The skinnier one below is a Koai`a (which looks identical to the Koa we have). They both really bring
a lot of life to the house, are easy to maintain, and look gorgeous with delicate ornaments and lights.

Planting the Mandala Permaculture Garden - The First Weekend.

We're too tired to write a whole bunch, but we did manage to upload a Picasa album and embed a slideshow here.

Enjoy. We intend to explain everything we did once we have had a proper meal and sufficient rest.

Aloha.
